Why LCS?

Mrs. Bette Blaisdell

Loyola Catholic School is a dynamic, nurturing community which successfully educates students to be critical thinkers, moral decision-makers and contributors to our church and world by teaching and modeling Gospel values.

We believe...

  • God is the center of all we do
  • We are a Catholic faith community, which fosters life-long relationships with God, self and world
  • To serve is essential
  • In the pursuit of academic excellence
  • In helping each person grow toward his or her full potential

Loyola High School Grades 9 -12

Challenged by high academic standards, Loyola High School students are encouraged to reach their God-given potential academically, as leaders and decision-makers, and to fulfill their own success and happiness through a Gospel-taught lifetime of service to others.

A four-year faith formation program provides a distinctive dimension to Loyola's curriculum, making it unique among high schools in the Mankato area. Rooted in the basic teachings of the Catholic Church, students gain greater understanding of the sacraments, develop deeper reverence for God's Word found in sacred Scripture, and learn to expand their responsibility to act morally and ethically as Christians.

A comprehensive curriculum is offered in Religion, English, Social Studies, Science, Math, World Languages, Computer Technology, Physical Education and Health, Art, Career/College Preparation, Business and Technology Education, and Music.

Loyola provides advanced placement (AP) course options for students in English, Calculus, Biology, Spanish, and Government. As with students throughout Minnesota, Loyola students are required to pass the Minnesota Basic Standards Tests in math, reading and writing.

Loyola participates in Minnesota's Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program which gives high school juniors and seniors opportunities to take courses, at no charge, full or part-time, at liberal arts, community or technical colleges and
universities or trade schools for high school and college credit.

Loyola Intermediate Grades 4 - 8
Fitzgerald Campus houses grades four through eight and provides a middle school environment and curriculum for grades six through eight. Fitzgerald provides a unique spiritual, physical, social, psychological and educational environment to meet pre-adolescent students' needs.

Staff nurtures a caring climate that helps each student strengthen his or her faith in God, deepen relationships with Jesus and become more aware of the work of the Holy Spirit in his or her life. Religion is integrated into all aspects of the school day. Weekly student led masses or prayer services give students opportunity to experience the word of God more fully. Middle school students are prepared for high school where life, learning and faith are joined. Academic programs are integrated with Catholic Social Principles, character building, and peace concepts.Curriculum areas for grades four through eight include Religion, Reading, Science, Math, Social Studies, Computer Technology, Language, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Service to those in need is integrated into all aspects of the curriculum. Enrichment opportunities are available through a wide variety of activities, including but not limited to Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Basketball, Volleyball, Destination Imagination, and Exchange City.

Loyola Primary Grades K - 3

Loyola Catholic Primary School is home to our youngest students. We are blessed to make God the center of all we are and all we do.

We are guided by strong Christian values and the belief that each child is a precious gift, filled with the life and love of God and blessed with talents and abilities, unique joys and challenges. We are committed to creating an atmosphere of welcome, gentleness, kindness, and loving support for each child.

We are partners with parents in guiding and nurturing each child’s growth toward his/her potential by providing a Christ-centered environment based on encouragement and respect. Students are known and cherished by their teachers, receive personal attention, and are involved in activities that encourage faith formation and friendship within our school community. Our small class sizes provide many opportunities for children to lead and shine.

Our students pray and receive religious instruction every day. The seasons of Advent and Lent are especially significant for our youngest students as we celebrate with special prayer times and service projects which broaden our hearts and our worldview. Students participate at Mass each week, proclaiming the Word of God and leading songs and prayers. Our faith community is enriched by welcoming children of all faith traditions.

Monthly Character Education themes and practices help us to focus on Gospel values and virtues. Weekly Global Awareness classes open our eyes and hearts to a wide variety of cultures and help us to become world citizens. Kindergarten is all day, every day, giving kindergarteners time to build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for further learning and achievement.

At every level, teachers communicate and work closely with parents to ensure that the needs and gifts of each child are addressed.

Our Primary School curriculum includes Religion, Literacy, Science, Math, Social Studies, Computer Skills, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Global Awareness. Service, respect, and moral decision-making are integrated into all our classes.

Loyola Preschool

Loyola Catholic Preschool is a Christ-centered pre-kindergarten program designed to open young children’s minds and hearts to the joy of learning together.

Located in our Primary wing on Good Counsel Campus, all children who are 3 years old by September 1 are welcome. Our program is licensed by the Minnesota State Department of Human Services, and our teachers are certified in early childhood education.

At Loyola Preschool children pray together; discover the wonder of learning and playing together; practice sharing, listening and helping; and begin to learn foundational reading and math skills. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to visit and volunteer to help with special events and celebrations.

For our preschool students, the transition to kindergarten is just a walk across the hall to teachers who are already
known and loved.

We offer the following sessions:

  • Two-day session for 3 and 4 year olds (Tuesday and Thursday mornings)
  • Three-day session for 4 and 5 year olds (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings)
  • Four-day “Kindergarten Bound” session for 4 and 5 year olds (Monday through Thursday afternoons)
