What is the Loyola Annual Fund?
Plain and simple, the Annual Fund provides essential, day-to-day operating support to the school. It enhances virtually every aspect of student life at Loyola, directly supporting curriculum, faculty and staff salaries, technology (both equipment and education), fine arts, athletics, facility maintenance, and financial aid. Tuition does not cover the full cost of a Loyola education, thus the school relies upon the Annual Fund to help bridge that gap, approximately $6,500 per student.
Loyola receives funds from our four local parishes and the Schola Foundation to help defray tuition costs for families that would otherwise be unable to attend. Other revenue generated from special events, sponsorships, and gifts from generous donors like YOU help Loyola attract and retain top-notch faculty, devise and implement cutting-edge programs, and much much more.
Donor-Directed Giving
Typically Annual Fund gifts are unrestricted, which offers Loyola the flexibility to distribute when and where they are needed most. However, the Annual Fund does support 3 major donor-directed giving categories:

WHO GIVES TO THE ANNUAL FUND?
We ask EVERYONE who is part of the Loyola community to give to the Annual Fund. We hope that every member of our school community understands the importance of the Annual Fund and will participate as generously as possible. Regardless of the amount, each and every gift is important!
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER A GIFT TO THE ANNUAL FUND WHEN I ALREADY PAY TUITION?
By helping to cover the gap between the price of tuition and what it actually costs to educate each Loyola student, your gift to the Annual Fund directly influences the educational experience all students have at Loyola. The availability of more resources equals access to more educational tools and opportunities. Your generous tax-deductible gift allows our students to have the “extras” that turn an excellent education into an exceptional one.
WHY NOT JUST RAISE TUITION?
By keeping tuition as financially accessible as possible, we gain a more economically diverse student population which enriches every student’s educational experience. Also, contributions to Loyola are tax-deductible, whereas tuition payments are not. When you donate to the Annual Fund, you help keep tuition payments lower and your gift entitles you to a tax benefit.
HOW ARE ANNUAL FUND GIFTS USED?
The money donated to the Annual Fund is used within the fiscal year in which it is received and supports Loyola's operational needs, including hiring and retaining outstanding faculty members, enhancing academic and extracurricular programs, maintaining facilities, and enabling the school to offer financial assistance to families who otherwise would not be able to afford a Loyola education. Loyola encourages unrestricted gifts, which gives the school the opportunity to use funds where they are needed most, but donors can direct their gifts to particular areas of interest.
WHY IS 100% PARTICIPATION SO IMPORTANT?
Strong participation in the Annual Fund is an important way for us to demonstrate the commitment and dedication of our parents, alumni, and friends to Loyola and our students. School community participation rates directly influence our ability to seek grants and corporate support for our programs.
HOW MUCH AM I EXPECTED TO GIVE?
We ask each family to give to their family's best ability. For some families, that may be $10. For others, it is $1,000 or more. When thinking about the amount of your gift you may want to consider monthly installments. Loyola values every gift regardless of the size.
CAN I USE MY EMPLOYER MATCHING FOR THE ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN?
Yes! We welcome this opportunity for additional dollars and are prepared to complete the necessary paperwork in order to receive them. Please ask your HR department if your company has a matching charitable contribution program and contact our advancement office advancement@loyolacatholicschool.org to help set it up.
MY FAMILY RECEIVES FINANCIAL AID AND I DONATE TO THE ANNUAL FUND, WILL IT AFFECT MY AID?
No. There is no correlation. Financial Aid information is completely confidential.
