Get Involved
Loyola Catholic School is a busy, vibrant community. We rely on parent and grandparent volunteers in ways that public schools do not. We offer many opportunities for families to become active within our community both during the day, evening, or weekends.
Parents represent a group of individuals possessing varied talents and gifts which benefit the entire school community. It is our intention to provide multiple areas where those gifts and talents can be realized. We have several events throughout the school year where volunteer time and talent are needed and much appreciated. Our special events specifically- Wired to the Heart, the Crusader Classic golf tournament and Rockin’ on the Hill rely on the volunteers of many to ensure their success!
Service is an integral part of the curriculum for our Loyola students; we ask that our families follow suit and give of their time and talents to help Loyola be the best place it can be.
If you'd like to get more involved, meet new families and friends, and give of your talents and time, please consider volunteering for one of our fundraising events. You may contact our special events coordinator, Carrie Kijenski at ckijenski@loyolacatholicschool.org or 507.386.5381 for more information, or simply fill out the form and we'll follow up with you soon!
VIRTUS Training
Loyola Catholic School’s policy is to screen all volunteers for their suitability to work with children in an educational setting and ask them to meet any and all requirements of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and the Diocese of New Ulm. Both Dioceses require all staff and volunteers at all parishes, schools and religious education programs to undergo a background check and to participate in a child safety program called VIRTUS.
These requirements are not about not trusting you, and certainly not about making it difficult for you to volunteer at school. They are about being vigilant together about the safety and well-being of our children. VIRTUS is designed to teach us about the ways abusers gain access to children (manipulating not only children but families and communities as well), heighten our awareness of signs of abuse, and alert us to situations that are potentially dangerous for our children. We encourage ALL parents/guardians to participate in VIRTUS training and will offer training sessions periodically. Those who wish to volunteer at school or school events are required to participate. VIRTUS training sessions will be offered during the school year. Training dates can be found at www.virtusonline.org select Registration / View a List of Sessions / Winona-Rochester, MN (Diocese).
Please note: Participants must pre-register for Virtus Training- Please click here to view VIRTUS pre-registration information.
The child protection background check, the Volunteer Code of Conduct form, and Virtus training certificate must be on file in the Business Office prior to volunteering.
Thank you for sharing our concern for each child at Loyola and for your cooperation.
